There will be a Safe Environment Training on Tuesday, October 17th at 6:30 PM in the St. Benilde School Cafeteria. This training is one of the three required steps for all adults who wish to work with children at St. Benilde Parish and School, whether as a volunteer or a paid employee. The other two steps are to pass a criminal background check and to complete an online registration component with the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Attendance at the training will allow you to complete all three steps.

Everyone is invited to a special remembrance of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Appearances at Fatima. It will be held this Friday, October 13th. Mass will be celebrated at 6 PM followed by a showing of the documentary-drama "FINDING FATIMA”, in the cafeteria. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the movie will begin at 7 PM. The rosary will be recited following the movie. Refreshments will be served.

On Sunday, October 8th, at 2 PM, there will be a Sacramental Workshop for parents of children making their First Reconciliation and Holy Communion. One or both parents must attend. The parents should meet in church. All St. Benilde School Sacramental year children must attend an activity that will be held in the school building at the same time.

We are excited to announce the Little Flowers Girls Club and the Blue Knights Boys Club starting at St. Benilde this year! Both groups will meet once a month for an hour, from 4:30 –5:30 PM. Little Flowers will meet in the School Library; Blue Knights will meet in the Teen Center. The clubs are open to children age five (5) and up. We will learn about saints, virtues, complete projects and crafts, and grow in friendship as we grow in faith. The first meeting is scheduled for September 29. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is sponsoring a “Friends of the Poor Walk” on Saturday, September 30, at New Orleans City Park Reunion Shelter & Festival Grounds. Onsite registration and check-in time begins at 9 AM. The one-mile walk will start at 10 AM. Music and refreshments will be provided from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. Walkers are to solicit and collect pledges. Donations are appreciated. SVDP members will be at all the Masses the weekend of September 23/24 with more information, registration forms, and accepting donations. Forms for pre-registration are also available in the Parish Office or online at www.FOPWALK.ORG. This is an important fundraiser for our SVDP because all money raised at St. Benilde stays in St. Benilde Parish. Thank you for your generous support of our efforts to help the less fortunate in our Parish.

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy Day of Obligation. Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 5:30pm on Monday, August 14th. Masses on Tuesday, August 15th will be at 7am, 8:15am (School Mass – all are welcome to attend), and 6:00pm. Due to the Holy Day of Obligation, there will be no 6pm Holy Hour and Confessions on Monday, August 14th. The Parish Office will be closed on Tuesday, August 15th in observance of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will reopen on Wednesday, August 16th at 9:00 am.
