The Bless the Baby Jesus devotion will be held with Fr. Cooper on Sunday, December 16th as part of the 11:00 a.m. Mass for the Third Sunday of Advent. This is an excellent opportunity for families to grow in faith as the “domestic church.” All Children are invited to bring a figurine of the baby Jesus, particularly from their family Nativity Crèche to be blessed by Fr. Cooper during Mass. Fr. Cooper will invite the children to sit at the foot of the step of the sanctuary for the homily and then to come forward to have their figurines blessed. Please come and enjoy this beautiful Advent Mass and devotion. Immediately following the Bless the Baby Jesus devotion, there will be a hot Breakfast with Baby Jesus including eggs, bacon, and biscuits served in the Cafeteria. Hospitality coffee and donuts will also be provided for those not wishing a full breakfast. The suggested donation is $5.00 per family. Please come and join in this faith-filled, family activity!

Fr. Cooper will celebrate a special Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 22nd at 9:00 am. Thanksgiving Day is a special time to remember the blessings we have received from God, so that we can be a more thankful people every day. The reasons for having grateful hearts make up a long litany: the gift of life itself, faith in a God who loves us and is very near to us, good health, loving family, caring friends, opportunities to serve, food on our tables, roofs over our heads. Yes, we have our times of doubt, our aches and pains, our family conflicts, and our economic struggles. But in spite of all these challenges, we are incredibly blessed! There will be no 7:00 am or 5:30 pm Mass on Thursday, November 22nd. The Adoration Chapel will close at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, November 21st and will reopen at 7:30 AM on Friday, November 23rd. The Parish Office will be closed on Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd in observance of Thanksgiving Day. We will reopen on Monday, November 26th at 9:00 am.

Hurricane Michael has left families in the panhandle of Florida homeless and without the basics of food and water. In the popular vacation community of Panama City, there is still no electricity or water in the community. While many of the reports are focused on the beaches and beach communities, there is great need inland where there are residents and a higher level of poverty. We in the Archdiocese of New Orleans know the impact of generosity in storm recovery. The following are some ways we can help the people of the Florida Panhandle: Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida has set up a website that lists the needs of the area as well as volunteer opportunities. They estimate they will need 75 volunteers, 7 days a week for several months to work in recovery. For those wanting to help, go to https://ccnwfl.org/ to find out what collections are being accepted and how to sign-up to volunteer. For anyone with family or who know of families or individuals that have been displaced by Hurricane Michael and are now in New Orleans, Catholic Charities case managers are available to help. Please call (504) 227-3440. Those wanting to send a monetary donation to assist in the recovery may send a check for Hurricane Michael Relief to the Archdiocese of New Orleans, 7887 Walmlsey Ave., New Orleans, LA 70125.
