Confirmation Preparation will begin on Wednesday, September 16th in the Cafeteria. 

The Confirmation Preparation Process at St. Benilde:

In the archdiocese of New Orleans, baptized teens entering the 11th grade are eligible to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This year, Confirmation preparation will be happening within the context of St. Benilde's Built Up Nights. These nights will take place monthly, from September to April, beginning at 6:00 PM. Individuals preparing for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Communion, Confirmation, and OCIA candidates and catechumens will break into appropriate groups.

Confirmation formation will occur from 6-7:30 within the context of gender exclusive small groups led by two or more safe-environment trained adult mentors. Active participation in these sessions is essential; candidates must attend a minimum of six sessions to be eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Candidates must also attend a mandatory Day of Service scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9:00 am. – 2:00 pm, and a Confirmation retreat, scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 9:00-4:00 pm.
Candidates will also attend a one-on-one interview with Fr. Mathew Johnston, the pastor, in March or April to determine their readiness to receive this important sacrament.

Registration forms and paperwork are due by Monday, September 14, 2026, along with the preparation fee (covering supplies, retreat, etc.) of $90. The forms can be found on the tab to the left on this page. I you are currently a registered parishioner at another parish and desire to get confirmed at St. Benilde, we will need a letter from your pastor sent to us by January 15, 2027. Parents/guardians are expected to attend an introductory meeting on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:00 pm. in the Cafeteria.

Summary of Confirmation Preparation Dates & Requirements:

• Mandatory Orientation for both parents and candidates – Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria
• Active participation in a small group (consisting of approximately 8 gatherings) in the months leading up to the sacrament. At least 6 scheduled sessions must be attended to be eligible to receive the sacrament.
•  Mandatory Day of Service on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:00 am- 2:00 pm
• Mandatory Confirmation Retreat on Saturday, February 20,2027, from 9:00-4:00 pm. (Location: St. Benilde Campus).
• Personal interview with Fr. Matthew Johnston, Pastor, in March/April. These will be scheduled at a later date.
• Confirmation Sponsor Form & Confirmation Saint - Sunday, March 14, 2027
• Confirmation Practice TBA. in the Church -Sponsors must attend
• Confirmation Mass is TBA . in the Church
