Dear Parent,
We are so excited to have your child as part of our Sacramental Preparation program. Through this process, your child will prepare to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This marks an important stage in your child’s spiritual development; these will likely be the first major events regarding the Church that your child will remember in adulthood. This is just one of the reasons why preparation for these sacraments typically occurs over two years, typically during the first and second grades.
As your child’s first and most important religious instructor, we invite you to actively participate in this process by attending our Built Up program. Spend time together learning about and discussing these sacraments, attend Sunday Mass faithfully as a family, and grow together in your love of Jesus Christ and His Church. Additionally, the following requirements must be met:
- Your child must have already been baptized in a Catholic Church prior to receiving his/her sacraments. NOTE: If your child has not been baptized OR was baptized in another Christian denomination but you would like your child to receive these two sacraments, please contact Director of Family Faith Formation Samantha Keller at [email protected]
- Your child must have completed two years of sacramental preparation prior to receiving their sacraments--either through enrollment at a Catholic school or participation in a Religious Education program. As a student at St. Benilde School, this requirement was met last year through your child’s participation in daily religion class. If your child was not enrolled at St. Benilde School during the 2024-2025 school year, please indicate on the Sacramental Preparation Registration form below where he/she received religious education last year.
- Finally, in order to be eligible for these sacraments, students and a parent/guardian must attend monthly Sacramental Preparation Meetings, which are part of our new Built Up program. You'll find the full schedule below. Attendance of these sessions is mandatory. Repeated absences will result in your child being ineligible to receive the sacraments this year.
We ask all parents to fill out the registration form below and submit a $75 sacramental prep fee. This fee will help cover the cost of materials and supplies. If this is a hardship in any way, scholarships are available.
