Join St. Benilde's CYO for a Summer Mission Retreat. Concluding the third year of our Rooted program, themed “Living out the Corporal Works of Mercy,” we will finish the year with a mission retreat focused on serving our community. The retreat will be guided by Pier Giorgio Frassati’s motto,Verso l’alto(“to the heights”), as we strive to live out our faith through service, encounter, and prayer. The retreat will take place at St. Benilde Catholic Church (1901 Division Street, Metairie, LA 70001). The cost of the retreat is $50. The retreat starts on Sunday, June 14th following the 4PM Mass, please refrain from eating/drinking anything but water 1 hour prior to Mass. Retreat ends at 6PM on Friday, June 19th, following our Tunica Falls Hiking Trip.
Teens will be volunteering in various capacities throughout the Mission Retreat: including but not limited to landscaping/maintenance projects on St. Benilde's campus as well as homes in the St. Benilde neighborhood, serving breakfast to individuals experiencing homelessness, visiting and spending time with pediatric patients at a local hospital, and visiting and engaging with elderly residents at a local nursing home. Teens will also go on pilgrimage on one of the retreat days to various Catholic Churches, shrines, etc. as we understand our call of service is first rooted in relationship with God through prayer, the sacraments, and the life of the Church. On the last day of retreat, teens will be taking to Clarks Creek Natural Area to Tunica Falls for a day of hiking.
Teens will stay overnight on St. Benilde's campus. The cost of retreat covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as transportation to all service projects, pilgrimage sites, and Tunica Falls.
Registration closes on Monday, June 8, 2026.
